Southerness

Built in 1749 and believed to be the third oldest lighthouse
in Scotland, Southerness Lighthouse stands amidst flags of
sandstone and served as a beacon for shipping in the
Solway Firth and the entrance to the River Nith ensuring
safe passage to the ports of Glencaple and Dumfries.
